Technology & I don’t mix

So I’m just a normal person like most people (I think?).  I know how to use computers for basic applications such as Word, a little Excel, and surfing the internet.  Since I’ve recently returned to working in an office I now realize how much technology has appeared that I have missed out on.  It is AMAZING what people can do with different programs.  The only major problem is that I don’t know how to use any of it, AAAGGGHHH!!  Now, on top of it I had the brilliant idea to start my own blog.  That is opening a whole other can of worms.  I should be studying for my Anatomy test that is coming up on Monday, or working on my 15 page Political science term paper that is due on Wednesday (that I have yet to begin researching).  However, instead I am playing on my computer trying to learn new blog programs.  I thought I had enough learning to do when I decided to be a nurse?  Oh well, it never hurts to have ambitions.

I might be a little slow at figuring all this out, but I will eventually get there!

Let me introduce myself...

I am 29 years old and have been married to my husband Rob for almost 5 years, we have 2 boys ages 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 and I am a part-time student working towards my nursing degree. I have been a stay at home mom since the birth of our first son, but recently my husband's job became a casualty of the lovely Vegas economy so I have just recently returned to work part-time temporarily.

I was slow to discover the world of blogging about 8 months ago and I quickly became addicted to blogs of stay at home moms, work at home moms, and homeschooling moms that are providing tips to save money and provide more for your family.

Because of this new found obsession I became a "couponer" and I love it! I am in the process of training to become an instructor for to teach coupon classes based on the website
GROCERYSMARTS. This site and the method it teaches has cut my grocery budget in 1/2!!!! I thought I was a bargain shopper before: watching sales, only shopping WalMart, barely buying unnecessary items. Yet, evenso, I was spending nearly $500 per month on groceries, plus another $100-200 on household items (including diapers). I now am spending an average of $300-$350 per month on EVERYTHING and I am buying name brands, and getting items I thought were frivolous before (ex. I now have hair styling products, yippee!).

I'm a nerd, and it makes me happy to see other people saving money. My goal is to be able to share the tips I get with all of my friends. I also have another huge passion for baking and I would love to experiment more with recipes and share my successes and failures with those of you that care to read. I also plan to post any little frugal ideas or events for locals to enjoy Vegas. We have all been hit hard by this economy and who doesn't want to enjoy our wonderful city for a little less moola $$$.
